This 12-week online training program will build on participants’ knowledge around designing safe and comfortable streets, and provide the tools for implementing children- and caregiver-focused street design projects. The registration fee has been waived through 2022.
All content for GDCI’s Designing Streets for Kids online training is available in five languages: Albanian, English, Georgian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Please note that GDCI’s working language is English and we have limited capacity to respond in other languages. All additional live sessions will be in English.
The self-guided program will take place from August 29 – November 21, 2022. Spots are limited, so please do not delay your registration.
What to Expect:
The online training is divided into 12 modules that you can complete at your own pace for the duration of 12 weeks. This training will equip participants with a holistic understanding of street design and children and caregivers’ needs, and offer potential solutions for improving street design and experience. It is aimed at inspiring innovative projects in your city and policy changes that center on safety and people’s needs. The online training is mainly geared toward professionals who have an understanding of street design concepts and are currently working on projects related to streets, children, and mobility; however, it is open to anyone who has an interest and desires to design streets that put people first.
During the training, you will engage with provided materials and videos, and complete interactive quizzes and assignments. The assignments will be reviewed by fellow participants and we expect you to review the work of others as well. GDCI will host two hourly Q&A sessions during the training duration, which will be held in English.
Once completed, you will receive a certificate of participation from the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI), and you will be invited to participate in a live 3-hour design workshop led by GDCI’s instructors.
Topics will include:
- Focusing on Kids and Early Childhood Development
- Street Design Strategies
