Melinda Hanson is the Deputy Director of the Global Designing Cities Initiative at NACTO. Over the past decade, Melinda has worked with a range of international organizations on initiatives to promote sustainable urban transport and support cities to adapt to climate change. She’s worked on public transit projects with the Asian Development Bank and served as a strategic advisor to foundations investing in sustainable urban development. In 2013, she worked as a policy researcher for Rebuild by Design—an initiative of President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Task Force. Earlier in her career, Melinda was the Transportation Portfolio Manager at the ClimateWorks Foundation where she oversaw $20 million in annual grants to public policy organizations in China, India, Europe, Latin America, and the US.
Melinda holds degrees in Environmental Studies and English Literature from the University of California Santa Cruz, and a Master of Urban Planning from New York University, where she was a Rice Urban Studies Fellow.
