Najwa joined NACTO in 2019 as a Program Manager for the Global Designing Cities Initiative, a multi-year program that works with cities around the world to promote safe, equitable and sustainable public space and street design. She primarily manages the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) efforts in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Najwa brings experience in conceptualizing and developing a diverse range of architecture, urban design and transportation planning projects. Prior to NACTO, she worked as an Urban Planner & Designer in NYC, Palestine, Bangladesh, and Lebanon. She has a particular interest in participatory planning processes and how to create well-connected, community-led spaces.
Najwa received her Master of Urban Planning degree from New York University where she was awarded the Wagner Public Service Scholarship and selected as a University Transportation Research Graduate Scholar. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia.
