Streets for Kids by Kids: Supporting All-Ages Engagement and Youth-Centered Design

May 18, 2021

8:00 am ET / 3:00 pm MSK

Streets are not only our largest network of continuous public space, but they can also be direct reflections of our values and attitudes vis-à-vis the relationship between kids and adults. According to 8 80 cities’ Building Better Cities with Young Children and Families report, there are currently no model cities in which civic engagement is embedded across all departments and aspects of city life, or where young children are meaningfully engaged in the city making process. The good news is that there is a wealth of inspirational examples and stories of projects and programs that take these needs into account, including those sparked by young residents themselves.

Taking place during the 6th UN Global Road Safety Week, this webinar featured both live and pre-recorded presentations, and attendees had the opportunity to hear from global youth change makers who have shown courage and vision in transforming the places where they live.
